That counts for more than mileage does. A job that would take a permit and a prayer in Manhattan is a quiet morning's work here.
The catch is the water. Living beside the basin and the bay means salt in the air the whole year, and salt is what turns a glass problem into a body problem. JFK is the next-door neighbor, so car services, rentals and long-term parkers move through constantly. The A train's Howard Beach-JFK station sits at the edge of the neighborhood with the AirTrain platform above it. Turn off the boulevard and the pace drops immediately: quiet residential streets, boats up on trailers, Charles Park and open water at the end of it. Parking is not the fight it is further west. Most houses have a driveway or a garage, and the ones on the canal side often have room for the van and the car both, which is exactly what an install wants.

Two things break glass in this neighborhood, and neither is dramatic. The first is the airport run. It is a straight shot west. Pick up the Belt Parkway at Exit 17 heading toward Brooklyn, stay with it past the Canarsie and Sheepshead Bay exits, come off around Bay Parkway and cut north to Fort Hamilton Parkway; 5521 sits close to 55th Street. Reckon on 25 minutes with a clear parkway and longer when airport traffic is heavy. Most drivers around here only make that trip when they want the bench: mirror work, a stubborn quarter light, a part we have to source and dry-fit before it goes in. Wind we can usually manage. Wet we cannot. The adhesive needs a dry surface and a dry cure, so rain, wet snow or a soaked driveway means we move the appointment rather than bond glass onto a damp opening.
