Side and rear tempered glass costs $200 to $450 on most vehicles with cleanup included, and it is typically a same-day job once the pane is in hand. If your car was opened up overnight on a Bay Ridge side street, call in the morning and we will close the opening and vacuum out the interior.

Tempered glass does not crack, it lets go. One second there is a window, the next there is a heap of green pebbles in the door pocket, across the back seat and down inside the door skin. Cleanup is half the work and never gets shortcut, because a fragment left in the channel will chew the edge of the new pane, and a fragment in the seat track will find your hand three weeks later. The cavity, the belt line and the carpet get vacuumed before anything is fitted. Tempered panes are built to fail into blunt pieces instead of shards, which is safer for you and considerably messier for us.
Back glass adds the defroster grid and, on plenty of cars, a radio antenna printed into the same pane. Those tabs and connections are transferred and tested, not reattached in a hurry. On a door we look at the regulator and run channel while the trim panel is off, since a window that was already slow before the break will still be slow afterwards if nobody checks. If the part has to come in overnight, the opening gets sealed against weather. Everything we install carries the lifetime workmanship warranty.
“I have not been able to keep my bathroom window open for the past 2 years without having to place something on the base. I didn’t know who to call. I was referred to AVIV and they were here this morning. I didn’t have to wait long for this…”

Two things put side and rear panes on the floor around here. The first is the overnight smash-and-grab on the quieter numbered blocks between the avenues, usually a rear door or a back quarter, because that is the cheapest window within reach. The second is weather coming off the water: a gust down Shore Road catching a door on a windy afternoon, or a limb dropping out of the tree line by Owl's Head Park in a storm. Either way you walk out to an open car. Plastic can go on and the interior can be emptied of glass the same day, and if the exact pane has to come from a supplier we secure the opening rather than leave you parked overnight with a bag taped across it.
Same service, same price, other Brooklyn neighborhoods:
Yes, and it is in the price rather than an extra line on the bill. The door cavity, the belt line, the seat rails and the carpet all get vacuumed, and on a back glass we check the trunk lip too, since pebbles travel further than you would expect. You may still find a stray piece a week later. That is tempered glass, and one pass at home finishes it.
It will when the job is done properly. The grid is printed onto the replacement pane and current reaches it through the tabs at each side, which we connect and test before the car leaves. Where the antenna shares that pane, reception gets checked as well. Any trouble with those connections afterwards is workmanship, and workmanship is covered for as long as you own the vehicle.
